The Hornkuhkäse (ALPENHORN) is a round hard cheese which is refined with the addition of cream. Its character convinces above all in its purity and the creamy-fine taste.  A very creamy and pleasant Earthy flavor – You are transported to the lush green meadow. It is produced in a customs-related village in the Appenzell hinterland. In the Appenzell region meticulous care is taken to ensure that this tradition is not changed and thus falsified. Of course, the main focus is on the cows, which can only be Original Braunvieh or Brown Swiss breeds. It is noticeable in Urnäsch that every Brown Swiss Cow proudly presents its beautifully maintained and upright horns to the public. Their equally proud owners are also the main owner of Urnäscher Milchspezialitäten AG, which produces the daily freshly delivered milk to the finest Alpenhorn. These outstanding features regularly distinguish it at international competitions. It took the 2nd place title in the World Championships in the USA in 2016.

Only Swiss cheese made from 100% milk from horned cows with signed agreement with milk supplier. 100% milk from Swiss Brown Swiss (breeds: Original Brown Swiss and Brown Swiss) Milk is processed in the same village as the cow is milked.
